यह एक Simple Framework है, जिसमें आपकी उपलब्ध Income को तीन बड़े हिस्सों में बाँटकर Budget करने का विचार दिया जाता है:

50% → Needs

जरूरी खर्च

30% → Wants

इच्छाएँ और Lifestyle Expenses

20% → Savings & Financial Goals

Saving और Future Financial Goals

लेकिन एक महत्वपूर्ण बात:

50/30/20 Rule कोई Universal Financial Law नहीं है। यह केवल एक Budgeting Framework है।

हर व्यक्ति की Income, Family Responsibilities, Rent, EMI, Debt और Financial Goals अलग होते हैं। इसलिए इसे अपनी स्थिति के अनुसार Adjust करना जरूरी हो सकता है।

💡 50/30/20 Budget Rule क्या है?

50/30/20 Rule एक Simple Budgeting Framework है।

इसमें आपकी Net/Available Income को लगभग इस तरह Allocate करने का विचार किया जाता है:

उदाहरण के लिए यदि आपकी Monthly Available Income:

है, तो 50/30/20 Framework के अनुसार:

50% = ₹25,000

30% = ₹15,000

🏠 50% — Needs यानी जरूरी खर्च

पहला हिस्सा है:

50% Needs

Needs का मतलब ऐसे खर्च हैं जो आपकी Basic Life और जरूरी Financial Responsibilities के लिए आवश्यक हैं।

उदाहरण:

  • Rent
  • राशन और जरूरी Food Expenses
  • Electricity
  • Water
  • Gas
  • Basic Transport
  • जरूरी Medical Expenses
  • आवश्यक Insurance Premium
  • जरूरी Education Expenses
  • कुछ आवश्यक Debt/EMI Payments

उदाहरण:

यदि आपकी Net Income:

₹50,000

है तो 50%:

₹25,000

होगा।

इस Framework के अनुसार कोशिश की जा सकती है कि Essential Needs लगभग ₹25,000 के आसपास रहें।

लेकिन वास्तविक जीवन में यह हमेशा संभव नहीं होता।


🎉 30% — Wants यानी इच्छाएँ

दूसरा हिस्सा है:

30% Wants

Wants वे Expenses हैं जो जरूरी नहीं हैं, लेकिन आपकी Lifestyle, Comfort या Entertainment का हिस्सा हो सकते हैं।

उदाहरण:

  • Restaurant
  • Shopping
  • Movies
  • Entertainment
  • Hobbies
  • Premium Subscriptions
  • Unplanned Lifestyle Purchases
  • Travel
  • बाहर खाना

यदि आपकी Income:

₹50,000

है, तो 30%:

₹15,000

होगा।

इसका अर्थ यह नहीं है कि आपको हर महीने पूरे ₹15,000 खर्च करने ही हैं।

तीसरा हिस्सा है:

20% Savings & Financial Goals

यह हिस्सा आपके Financial Future के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है।

इसमें आपकी परिस्थिति के अनुसार शामिल हो सकते हैं:

यदि आपकी Emergency Fund अभी पूरी तरह तैयार नहीं है, तो इस Allocation का कुछ हिस्सा Emergency Fund के लिए रखा जा सकता है।

मान लीजिए आपके वास्तविक Wants केवल ₹8,000 हैं।

तो बाकी ₹7,000 को आप अपनी Financial Priorities के अनुसार Saving, Emergency Fund या Goals में Allocate कर सकते हैं।

मान लीजिए आपकी Monthly Net Income:

है।

लेकिन यदि आपकी Essential Expenses केवल ₹35,000 हैं, तो आपको जरूरी नहीं कि बाकी ₹15,000 Wants में खर्च करना ही पड़े।

आप उसे Financial Goals में बढ़ा सकते हैं।


🧠 50/30/20 Rule को Blindly Follow क्यों नहीं करना चाहिए?

क्योंकि हर व्यक्ति की Financial Situation अलग है।

उदाहरण:

व्यक्ति A:

Income = ₹40,000

Essential Expenses = ₹25,000

व्यक्ति B:

Income = ₹1,00,000

Essential Expenses = ₹30,000

दोनों के लिए बिल्कुल समान Ratio जरूरी नहीं है।

इसीलिए:

50/30/20 को Starting Point मानें, Final Rule नहीं।


🏠 अगर Rent बहुत ज्यादा है तो?

मान लीजिए आपकी Income:

₹50,000

है।

लेकिन Rent:

₹20,000

है।

इसके अलावा Food, Electricity और Transport मिलाकर Essential Expenses:

₹32,000

हो जाते हैं।

ऐसी स्थिति में Needs:

50% = ₹25,000

के अंदर रखना मुश्किल हो सकता है।

ऐसे समय:

Needs = 50% से अधिक

हो सकते हैं।

आपको:

  • Wants कम करने
  • Saving को जितना संभव हो बनाए रखने
  • Housing/Transport Costs Review करने
  • Income बढ़ाने

जैसे विकल्पों पर विचार करना पड़ सकता है।


💳 अगर EMI ज्यादा है तो?

मान लीजिए:

Income = ₹50,000

और EMI = ₹15,000

है।

अब EMI के साथ Essential Expenses जोड़ने पर Needs का हिस्सा काफी बढ़ सकता है।

ऐसे में केवल 50% Target को देखकर Budget बनाना Practical नहीं हो सकता।

पहले:

1. Essential Expenses

2. Required Debt Payments

3. Financial Safety

को समझें।

फिर Wants और अन्य Flexible Expenses को Adjust करें।

तो Needs पहले ही:

हो गए।

ऐसे में:

50% Needs

का Target Unrealistic हो सकता है।

इस स्थिति में Focus हो सकता है:

पहले Essential Expenses Manage करें, फिर धीरे-धीरे Saving और Financial Goals को Improve करें।

अगर संभव हो तो छोटी राशि से Saving शुरू करना भी Habit बनाने में मदद कर सकता है।


🔄 Irregular Income वालों के लिए 50/30/20

अगर आपकी Income हर महीने बदलती है, तो हर महीने बिल्कुल उसी Ratio पर निर्भर रहना कठिन हो सकता है।

February = ₹50,000
March = ₹25,000

ऐसी स्थिति में:

  • Conservative Income Estimate रखें

मान लीजिए:

में होता है।

अपने आप से पूछें:

“अगर मैं इसे इस महीने नहीं खरीदूँ तो क्या मेरी Basic Life या जरूरी Financial Responsibility प्रभावित होगी?”

यदि उत्तर नहीं है, तो यह संभवतः Want हो सकता है।

इस Rule का सबसे बड़ा फायदा इसकी Simplicity है।

आपको शुरुआत में हर Expense की बहुत जटिल Calculation करने की जरूरत नहीं पड़ती।

आपको केवल तीन बड़े सवाल पूछने हैं:

1️⃣ मेरी Needs कितनी हैं?

2️⃣ मेरी Wants कितनी हैं?

3️⃣ मैं Future के लिए कितना रख रहा हूँ?

इससे Budgeting की शुरुआत आसान हो सकती है।


⚠️ 50/30/20 Rule की Limitations

❌ 1. सभी Income Levels के लिए समान नहीं

Low Income और High Cost of Living में 50% Needs संभव नहीं हो सकता।

❌ 2. Family Size अलग होती है

एक व्यक्ति और पाँच लोगों के परिवार का Budget अलग होगा।

❌ 3. Debt Situation अलग होती है

High EMI वाले व्यक्ति की Allocation अलग हो सकती है।

❌ 4. Location का प्रभाव

Rent और Living Costs शहर के अनुसार काफी बदल सकते हैं।

❌ 5. Financial Goals अलग होते हैं

❌ 1. इसे Fixed Law समझना

यह केवल Framework है।

❌ 2. Needs में हर खर्च डाल देना

कुछ Lifestyle Expenses को Need मान लेने से Budget गलत हो सकता है।

❌ 3. 30% Wants को खर्च करना जरूरी समझना

30% एक Spending Target नहीं है जिसे हर हाल में पूरा करना हो।
