💰 Zero-Based Budgeting

Zero-Based Budgeting का सरल विचार है:

आपकी उपलब्ध Income का हर रुपया पहले से किसी न किसी Financial Purpose के लिए Allocate किया जाए।

इसका मतलब यह नहीं है कि महीने के अंत में आपके Bank Account में ₹0 होना चाहिए।

बल्कि इसका मतलब है कि:

Income − Planned Allocations = ₹0

यानी आपकी पूरी Available Income को पहले से अलग-अलग Categories में Assign किया गया है।

🧠 Zero-Based Budgeting क्या है?

Zero-Based Budgeting को आसान भाषा में समझें।

मान लीजिए आपकी Monthly Available Income:

₹60,000

है।

आप इस Income को इस तरह Allocate करते हैं:

अब:

Income = ₹60,000

Total Allocation = ₹60,000

Difference = ₹0

यही Zero-Based Budgeting का Basic Concept है।


⚠️ Zero-Based का मतलब Bank Balance Zero नहीं है

यह सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात है।

अगर आपने:

₹60,000 Income

में से:

₹6,000 Saving

के लिए Allocate किए हैं, तो वह पैसा खर्च करने के लिए Available नहीं माना जाएगा।

इसी तरह:

₹4,000 Emergency Fund

के लिए रखे हैं, तो वह भी एक Financial Purpose को Assign हो चुका है।

इसलिए:

Zero-Based Budget का मतलब “Zero Money” नहीं है।

इसका मतलब है:

Zero Unassigned Money.

यानी ऐसा पैसा कम से कम रखा जाए जिसका कोई स्पष्ट उद्देश्य ही तय न हो।


💰 Zero-Based Budgeting कैसे काम करता है?

इस Approach को एक Simple Process से समझें:

Income

Essential Expenses

Debt/EMI

Saving

Emergency Fund

Financial Goals

Lifestyle/Personal Expenses

Buffer/Other Planned Expenses

Remaining Unassigned Amount = ₹0


📊 Step 1: अपनी Available Income पता करें

सबसे पहले अपनी वास्तविक Monthly Available Income लिखें।

उदाहरण:

Net Income = ₹60,000

यदि आपकी Income के कई Sources हैं:

यह केवल Hypothetical Example है।

यदि आपकी Income Irregular है, तो बहुत optimistic income estimate के आधार पर Budget न बनाएं।

🏠 Step 2: Essential Expenses Allocate करें

अब सबसे पहले जरूरी खर्चों को Allocate करें।

उदाहरण:

  • Rent
  • Food

  • जरूरी Medical Expenses
  • Education
  • अन्य Essential Expenses

मान लीजिए:

Essential Expenses = ₹30,000

अब:

₹60,000 − ₹30,000 = ₹30,000

बाकी राशि को अन्य Financial Purposes में Allocate किया जा सकता है।


💳 Step 3: EMI और Debt Payments जोड़ें

यदि आपकी EMI है, तो उसे Budget में पहले से Allocate करें।

उदाहरण:

EMI = ₹7,000

अब:

₹30,000 − ₹7,000 = ₹23,000

बाकी राशि बची।

Debt को Ignore करके Zero-Based Budget बनाना सही Approach नहीं होगा।

💰 Step 4: Saving को एक Purpose दें

अब Saving के लिए राशि Allocate करें।

उदाहरण:

Monthly Saving = ₹6,000

अब:

₹23,000 − ₹6,000 = ₹17,000

यहाँ Saving को “महीने के अंत में जो बचेगा” पर निर्भर नहीं किया गया।

बल्कि Budget में पहले से Purpose दिया गया।


🛡️ Step 5: Emergency Fund के लिए Allocate करें

अगर आपका Emergency Fund अभी पर्याप्त नहीं है, तो अपनी Financial Capacity के अनुसार एक राशि Allocate की जा सकती है।

उदाहरण:

Emergency Fund = ₹4,000

अब:

₹17,000 − ₹4,000 = ₹13,000

अब:

🎉 Step 7: Personal/Lifestyle Expenses Allocate करें

अब Personal और Lifestyle Expenses के लिए राशि रखें।

उदाहरण:

Personal Expenses = ₹5,000

अब:

₹8,000 − ₹5,000 = ₹3,000

यह पैसा आपकी परिस्थिति के अनुसार:

  • Shopping
  • Entertainment
  • Eating Out
  • Hobbies
  • Personal Needs

में इस्तेमाल हो सकता है।


📅 Step 8: Annual और Irregular Expenses के लिए Allocation

कुछ खर्च हर महीने नहीं आते।

लेकिन वे भविष्य में आने वाले हैं।

उदाहरण:

Annual Insurance Premium:

₹24,000

अगर आप 12 महीने में इसके लिए पैसा तैयार करना चाहते हैं:

₹24,000 ÷ 12 = ₹2,000

तो लगभग:

₹2,000 प्रति माह

एक Planned Expense Fund में Allocate किया जा सकता है।

इससे Annual Payment के समय अचानक बड़ा Financial Pressure कम हो सकता है।


🧮 Step 9: आखिर में Zero करें

अब मान लीजिए हमारे पास:

₹3,000

बचे हैं।

अब इस राशि को बिना Purpose के छोड़ने के बजाय अपनी जरूरत के अनुसार Allocate करें।

उदाहरण:

₹2,000 → Annual Expenses

₹1,000 → Buffer

अब:

Total Allocation = ₹60,000

Income = ₹60,000

Unassigned Amount = ₹0

यही Zero-Based Budget का लक्ष्य है।

🎯 क्या Zero-Based Budgeting ज्यादा बेहतर है?

जरूरी नहीं।

यह आपकी Financial Situation और आपकी पसंद पर निर्भर करता है।

यदि आपको Simple Budget पसंद है, तो 50/30/20 जैसा Framework पर्याप्त Starting Point हो सकता है।

🧑‍💼 Irregular Income वालों के लिए Zero-Based Budgeting

Freelancer, Business Owner, Commission-Based Worker या Variable Income वाले लोगों की Income हर महीने समान नहीं होती।

उदाहरण:

January = ₹40,000
February = ₹55,000
March = ₹30,000

ऐसी स्थिति में पहले:

Essential Expenses

का Minimum Level तय करना उपयोगी हो सकता है।

फिर उपलब्ध Income के अनुसार:

  • Saving
  • Emergency Fund
  • Debt
  • Goals
  • Lifestyle

को Allocate किया जा सकता है।

High-Income Month में अतिरिक्त राशि को पूरी तरह Lifestyle में खर्च करने के बजाय Future Expenses, Buffer, Debt या Goals के लिए Allocate करना उपयोगी हो सकता है।

🛡️ Buffer को Zero-Based Budget में कैसे रखें?

Zero-Based Budget का मतलब यह नहीं है कि हर Category बिल्कुल Perfect होनी चाहिए।

आप एक:

Monthly Buffer

भी रख सकते हैं।

उदाहरण:

Buffer = ₹2,000

इसका उपयोग उन छोटे या अनिश्चित खर्चों के लिए किया जा सकता है जो Budget बनाते समय अनुमानित नहीं थे।

अगर महीने के अंत में Buffer बच जाए, तो उसे आपकी Financial Priorities के अनुसार Saving या किसी अन्य Goal में Shift किया जा सकता है।


🚨 Zero-Based Budgeting में होने वाली सामान्य गलतियाँ

❌ 1. Income को बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर Estimate करना

विशेषकर Irregular Income में।

❌ 2. हर खर्च को Perfectly Predict करने की कोशिश

Budget एक Estimate और Planning Tool है।

❌ 3. Annual Expenses भूल जाना

Insurance, Fees, Maintenance आदि।

❌ 4. Emergency Fund को Ignore करना

Unexpected Expenses के लिए कोई Plan न होना।

❌ 5. Wants के लिए बहुत ज्यादा Allocation

Lifestyle Spending को Financial Goals से ऊपर रखना।

Budget बनाकर महीने में Review न करना।

❌ 7. Budget को बहुत Complicated बनाना
